The Launch of VHAI’s website on tobacco control www.rctfi.org
The Health Promotion & Development Communication (HPDC) team of
the VHAI PAT & APPLE PROJECT ON TOBACCO CONTROL launched the website
www.rctfi.org on the 28th November 2007. It was inaugurated by Dr.
Vinayak Prasad, Director (Public Health), Ministry of Health Family
Welfare, Government of India. The website is a special initiative
of the Voluntary Health Association of India. |

The web launch at VHAI, New Delhi was attended by our state partners;
Dr. Nevin Wilson and Dr Partha Pratim Mandal from The Union; Mr.
Hemant Goswami, from the Burning Brain Society, Chandigarh; Dr.
Mira Aghi, Behavioural Scientist and Communications Expert: and
representatives from Hriday-Shan.
The VHAI PAT & APPLE project is a 14-month initiative at five locations
in India under the Bloomberg Global Initiative started by Michael
R. Bloomberg, Mayor of New York to reduce tobacco use in low and
middle income countries. The BGI project is managed by the International
Union against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease and the Campaign for
Tobacco-Free Kids. The main objective of the website is to use VHAI’s
strong base and experience of anti-tobacco campaigns and its state
level networks to support tobacco control campaigns across different
states of India. It is a medium to support the tobacco control lobby
across India through regular knowledge sharing, creation of an information
network and regular news updates. The website contains links that
