A media advocacy workshop was organized by the Cancer Foundation of India (CFI) and VHAI in Kolkata on 1 September 2009 in which journalists from the English, Hindi and Bengali media participated.
Over 16 journalists attended the programme. The Programme was held at the Park Hotel.
Four media awards of Rs 5000/ each were also announced for those journalists covering tobacco related issues.
Ms Srabani Mittal, WHO Consultant to West Bengal Government, Director CFI, Ms. Sutapa Biswas, Ms. Rachita Bansal, Mr A. P. Sinha, both from VHAI, New Delhi, participated in the workshop.
After the presentations there were discussions on various aspects of violations of pack warnings and all the participants took part in it.
The discussions were held in English, Bengali and Hindi.
