GOI Initiatives > The Bloomberg Global Initiative (BGI) and the role of the World Health Organisation (WHO) India Office

The GOI has a BGI programme running and the role of WHO is providing technical support in areas where the programs are functional to facilitate better outreach. The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MOHFW) in India has a strong base for tobacco control, and through the Bloomberg Initiative, MOHFW seeks to create an effective model at both the Central Level for strengthening policy, advocacy and multi sectoral partnerships for tobacco control. And the State level for capacity building for implementation of tobacco control laws.
